We’ve been receiving tons of emails lately with questions about basic ShoutEm features, our pricing plans, etc. The majority of these are commonly referred to as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Here are the top 5 FAQs:
1. Are changes to the app visible after it is published?
Yes. After your app is approved and published to the App Store, you can make any change you would like including removing icons, changing color schemes, adding new features or changing graphics. To make your changes visible, just click the “re-publish” button at the bottom of your app builder pages. This way you have complete control of your app’s look and feel, and the features you use. The “Re-publish” button leaves you in control by not letting your changes be visible publicly until you are ready.
Please note that if your changes include upgrading to a higher level in our pricing plan, the increased amount for the new plan will be charged to your credit card (after your confirmation).
All your changes will be visible not only in the Mobilizer app but also in your real application as soon as your community restarts your app. There are a few things you cannot change: application icon, application splash screen (launch image), iTunes/Market artwork and Publish info. If you want those things to be changed, please contact us
Please note that you cannot make changes to your app from the time it is submitted for approval until your app is approved by Apple. The App builder will warn you that you cannot make changes to the app during that period.
2. Do you have a referral program?
Yes. Our referral program went live a few days ago. When a person clicks on a referral link you shared and goes through our purchase process, both you and that person will earn 3 free months of our service. You can invite your friends via email, Twitter, and Facebook or just share your referral URL through links on your website. We will prepare a few nice banners for your website so you can brag about your apps and earn your free months. All your referral statistics will be neatly displayed under a “Referral” link located on the top menu of your ShoutEm dashboard. You can monitor Free months earned, Free months used, Free months left and statistics regarding your referral signups and purchases. So, start inviting your friends today!
3. Can I make an app for my ShoutEm community network?
Yes. All ShoutEm network owners out there, you can create an app for your network. We are working on integrating the admin tools for ShoutEm networks and ShoutEm mobile apps, but if you have an existing ShoutEm network and you want to create a ShoutEm app for this particular network, contact us and we will enable the app for your networks – it will appear under the “My Applications” section. You can publish it when you spice up your app with features, personalize it with your branding and colors – in short prepare it for publishing – with the usual ShoutEm app process flow.
4. Can I remove all default locations and leave only the ones I create?
This is one of the most desired features at the moment. We currently do not support complete removal of built-in locations. However, this feature will come online with one of the next releases of ShoutEm. This feature will bring:
- The ability to remove built in places (so your place list will show only places you add through the admin dashboard)
- The ability to remove the “add new place” button in the applications place module
5. How long does it take to submit the app to App Store and Android Market?
Your app is usually submitted to both the Android Market and App Store within one business day after you publish it. The Android version of your app is visible almost instantly in the Android Market. You will receive your direct download link via email a few moments after it is published. Apple takes approximately 5-12 days for their review process. Please note that we may advise you to make some changes to your app before we submit it to App Store and Android Market (for example, you cannot submit the app if it contains the ShoutEm logo). We will also inform you if we believe that your app does not meet the App Store review guidelines.
We hope that you have learned enough with our short 5 question FAQs to proceed over to ShoutEm, take one last tour, and sign up to start building your app.
